Pair of 1860’s Lakota Sioux style Wizipan Parfleches

This style of parfleches were made by Lakota tribes only. It served for storing food (pemmicann usualy) or other items. They had elliptical bottoms, made of soft braintanned hide, so they could be flat if empty, but could take on considerable volume if full. Made of softened and whitened elk rawihide, painted with earth pigments. Completely sewn by real sinew. Heavy double layer fringes. These wizipans are rather middle sized. Dimensions: 8,7″ x 16,5″ measured WITHOUT the fringes.
